CMS Adaptors
- Simple low cost, low maintenance, adaptors
- Automation machine can be isolated from internet
- Two adaptors used simultaneously for redundancy
- Plug-and-play installation, no configuration needed
- Ademco-685 compatible reporting via RS-232
- 256-bit encryption on internet link
- No fixed IP addresses necessary
We pre-configure and test all CMS adaptors especially for your monitoring station prior to shipping. This ensures there’ll be no problems installing, just plug in power, network, and RS-232, then configure your automation software for an Ademco-685 compatible receiver. The CMS adaptor will automatically contact our servers and establish a secure connection. This pre-configuration also allows us to install the encryption certificates and lock-down the device before shipping, eliminating the possibility that the devices or the certificates could be compromised on-route.
Other IP reporting services require the CMS to have in-house receivers or server systems. This adds complexity, cost, and uses infrastructure resources. Part of this increased cost and complexity is the cost of buying and installing the servers/receivers, and their ongoing maintenance. But another important aspect is configuring and managing the firewall at your CMS to accept incoming connections from your customer’s panels, and coping with the bandwidth that panel supervision consumes.
Our CMS adaptors save all this trouble by making outgoing connections to our servers, reducing the risk at your firewall and isolating you from the regular polling traffic by only reporting polling failures. What's more, your automation computer can be completely isolated from the internet because our adaptors connect via RS‑232. The connection between your CMS and our servers is supervised via the standard Ademco-685 receiver polling, so your automation software will alert you if the internet connection ever fails.
Also, because our adaptors identify themselves to our servers by their unique SSL encryption certificates, you can connect from any IP number and don't need fixed IP numbers at your CMS. This also simplifies the process of physically moving your CMS if you ever need to, or if you building suddenly becomes uninhabitable for any reason. Just pick up your adaptors (or order replacements if necessary), plug them into the Internet anywhere in the world, and all your signals will be automatically routed to your new location.
Two CMS adaptors are supplied for both physical hardware redundancy and connection redundancy. We strongly recommend that CMS’ use at least two different internet service providers and physical internet connections to ensure the highest possible up-time.
In-house receivers
- Panels connect directly to your CMS
- Runs on low cost CentOS Linux servers
- Migrate existing CMS-Link customers
For monitoring stations with large numbers of IP reporting customers, running your own in-house receivers can be cost effective. Both CSV-IP Alarm and Terrier adaptor panels can be moved in-house. The receivers software runs on low cost standard (physical or virtual) servers running CentOS Linux.
CMS-Link can help install and manage your servers and receiver software. With suitable forward planning, any existing CMS-Link customers can be quickly and easily transferred to your new in-house receivers. For Terrier adaptor customers, CMS-Link will continue to manage the SIM cards and GPRS data, along with your new Terrier receiver licenses.
